Our Environmental Commitment
Why is Whale Tail Coffee different from other coffee brands?
Whale Tail Coffee was created with one clear purpose: to protect and restore the water that gives life to our planet. We give away 100% of our net profits to help clean up canals, rivers and oceans. Every bag of coffee you buy helps make a real, lasting difference.
Do you actually donate 100% of profits? That sounds too good to be true.
Yes, we really do. Whale Tail Coffee was created with one purpose: to prove a business can exist solely to give back. We're here to show that coffee can be a force for good, and to help reshape an industry that too often talks sustainability without truly committing to it.
How often do you donate profits?
Whale Tail Coffee donates 100% of net profits at the end of each quarter.
This allows us to accurately calculate costs and ensure the full amount is directed to organisations working to protect and clean oceans, rivers, canals and lakes.
We’ll also share updates so customers can see the impact their purchases are helping to create.
Where does the 100% profit donation actually go?
We fund projects that remove waste, restore damaged waterways, and protect marine wildlife. This includes work both in the UK and internationally. Every organisation we partner with has a proven track record and a focus on measurable results.
How do you maintain high quality and fair pricing while donating 100% of profits?
We build our prices and processes carefully from the ground up, making sure they work for both our mission and our customers. By sourcing directly from trusted growers, keeping our operations lean, and focusing on what truly matters, we’re able to offer exceptional coffee at a fair price.
Can I track the impact of my purchase?
Yes. We share updates through our through the "Your Impact" page and the Saltwater Society mailing list. You’ll find donation totals, cleanup milestones, and updates from the projects we support along with proof of donations so you can see exactly where your coffee’s impact is going.
Is your packaging eco-friendly?
All our coffee bags are made from fully recyclable materials, chosen to minimise environmental impact while keeping your beans fresh. We also plan to transition to even more sustainable materials as we grow.
How is your coffee sourced?
Our beans come from certified ethical farms that prioritise fair wages, sustainable practices, and high quality crops. We don’t cut corners or chase trends, just clean, honest sourcing that respects people and planet.
Are you B Corp certified?
We are still in our early days, but we’re committed to building a business that meets the highest ethical and environmental standards. Certifications like B Corp require at least 12 months of operational data, so while we're not eligible yet, we’re already laying the groundwork. In the meantime, we prioritise full transparency about where your money goes and how your purchase helps positive environmental change.
